Take a CHIO seat
“I am delighted that it all worked out, it is something really special,” replied Elke Cornetz, Deputy Head of the Eschweiler Secondary School, when asked about the story behind the blue seats on her school grounds.
When Elke Cornetz read in a newspaper article three years ago that the CHIO Aachen was replacing the seats in the stands of the Deutsche Bank Stadium and that the old models were being given away, she didn’t hesitate for long and after a few telephone calls set off for Aachen straight away with a horse trailer: “I am a big CHIO Aachen fan myself, furthermore I saw it as a super opportunity of demonstrating that our school is connected to the city region of Aachen,” the Deputy Head reported.
It took quite a while for the seats to be installed on the school grounds, but the task had been completed by the end of the summer vacation: “We had to observe a lot of safety regulations, so far we have been able to install 40 seats, which are firmly concreted into the floor, I hope we will be able to install even more.”
The response of the pupils to the in some cases roofed seating options is very positive. “We are very pleased about this, of course, because the seats are not only designed to make our school yard more attractive, above all they are there to be used,” said a contented Elke Cornetz.
